TFB 800 THEMA: GENERAL FEATURES OF THE TERMINAL

TFB800: The Integrated Linux-Embedded Palm System.

The TFB 800 THEMA, hereafter known as TFB, is an innovative portable that is ideal for hostile environments where sudden changes of temperature, variable weather conditions, humidity, water/rain, radio disturbance, accidental falls and/or impact are the normal conditions of use.

The LINUX Operating System that is used is completely open to the world of systems and has made it possible to realize a terminal that can be connected with extreme ease to company and internet systems, thus allowing the user with the appropriate accessories installed to use the TFB to receive and send e-mails, consult internet sites, make on-line payments, interact like a remote terminal for what regards company applications, and send SMS and MMS messages.

Interface can be facilitated by using a touch-screen display and a personalizable keyboard. Plus, by using an earphone, the TFB can become a normal GSM telephone or memorize and play back brief voice messages.
The battery included can be taken out and recharged.
The 2 serial ports, USB port, Ethernet and IrDA interfaces allow for the most suitable connection with any device, or with a PC through local or remote configuration for the uploading/downloading of data, information, files and images.
As an option, it is possible to use accessories on compact flash cards or with a USN connection, to use an integrated Laser Scanner, and to backlight the keyboard; the reading/writing of TAG RFID (identification systems without contact) is also possible.

Plus, an absolutely innovative application: using the TFB800 with a camera on top that photographs the meter at the moment of its reading, thus making it possible to verify the consumption. The camera makes it possible to visualize the image in real time on the display of the terminal. The images are saved in JPEG format.
The support of the optical system is composed of a cylinder that, thanks to its perimetral inserts, always finds the right support on the rings of the meters to be photographed.

Other optional accessories are the Bluetooth interface, magnetic and microchip card readers, and the GPS radio localization package.
For special applications, it is also possible to grip the terminal, rotated 90°.

SOFTWARE INFORMATION - THE OPERATING SYSTEM

The operating system chosen to best take advantage of the hardware and the peripherals with which the portable TFB800 terminal is equipped is Linux.
Compared to other operating systems, Linux makes the following advantages possible:

Ease of use: the operating system and the applications are completely graphic.
Reliability: the reliability of Linux is that typical of the Unix systems.
Protection: Linux is a safe operating system. The data and the passwords are encrypted using sophisticated algorhythms.
Ease of communication: Linux supports the suite of communication protocols of the TCP/IP stack.
Expandability: the number of peripheral devices and applications developed for Linux systems is constantly growing.
Compatibility: compatibility with other operating systems is guaranteed.
